Boy, do we! We at The Pickleball Warehouse LOVE open play and believe it's the best way to play pickleball. Because of that, 17 of our 19 courts operate primarily as open play courts!
We have open play any time we are open. Unlike the space limitations of most indoor facilities, we have the luxury of 19 courts! This means that we do not limit our open play to certain skill levels or age groups at certain times. Instead, there is room for players of all skill levels to find a great open-play game any time we're open.
We follow the same rotation system as most public courts. After each game, the losing team comes off the court, and two new players come on. Players can stay on a court for a maximum of two consecutive games before they have to re-enter the rotation system to avoid court hogging.
We recommend that the winning team split up for their second game to allow for greater diversity in gameplay, but we leave this for players to decide.
Every room has paddle racks! Just drop your paddle in the rack. If you're the first person in the queue, we recommend waving at the players on the court so they know you're there and can work you in.
Nope! One of the things we love most about open play is that it allows people to drop into games without all of the leg work of pulling together a foursome. That said, there are more reliable times for open play than others. Looking for a game after 4:30 on a weekday or on a weekend morning? You'll always find a crowd. If you are looking for a game at other times, we recommend dropping a note in TeamReach saying the day, time, and skill level you're interested in. Our TeamReach code is warehouse412.
Right now, the most reliable times for guaranteed play are after 4:30 on weekdays and weekend mornings. But we often have players here outside those time slots, and we know there are many more interested in games. If you are looking for a game at other times, we recommend dropping a note in TeamReach saying the day, time, and skill level you're interested in. Our TeamReach code is warehouse412.
Yes, our open play courts are divided into three skill levels. The purple courts are for advanced players (4.0+)*; the green courts are for average/intermediate players (you know what a third-shot drop is, but you're really just here to have fun); and the red courts are for beginner players.
We do not require any proof of rating to enter the advanced courts; however, staff may direct players who are not quite ready for advance play to courts that will better enable everyone to have a great time. This system is intended to maximize fun and friendly competition, while also allowing players to improve their skills, so please be respectful and mindful of others when choosing which courts to play on and when playing with others of varying skill levels.
* If you are not familiar with the pickleball rating system or whether you qualify for the advance room, feel free to chat with us! We would be happy to help you find the right game for you.
Listen, we know that there is nothing more uncomfortable than calling out fellow players for hogging courts. We have been there . . . more than once. At The Pickleball Warehouse, this burden isn't yours. Just pull a staff member aside, let them know your concerns, and we will take care of the rest. This is your rec time; it should be fun and stress-free. We've got your back.
We totally get it! Sometimes, you just want to play with your foursome. If you are playing on an open play court (purple, green, or red), you can certainly play with your group as long as there is no one waiting to play. If, however, there are players looking to rotate in, your group will need to rotate them in.
Not interested in rotating? No problem! We have two courts set aside for private reservations! Book your time slot online.
We sure do! We have two courts that are always set aside for private reservations, which you can book online. Members can reserve courts up to a month in advance. Non-members can reserve courts one week in advance. Reservations are capped at two hours.
Okay, bear with us while we explain the pricing structure. I know it sounds wonky, but doing it this way gives the best bang for your buck:
Members: $24/hour + $10 entry fee for any non-members in your group.
Non-Members: $40/hour + $10 entry fee for everyone in your group.
For example:
Because the non-members in the group have paid the drop-in rate, anyone who wants to jump into open play at the end of your reservation is welcome to do so! Stay and play all day!
You bet we do! Looking to host a birthday party, corporate retreat, or charity event? We've got you covered. Our reservation options are flexible to fit the needs of your special event, so shoot us an email, give us a call, or stop by in person for more information.
